“In her capacity as Deputy Director, Nathalie Tocci has significantly contributed to IAI’s growth - said Ettore Greco - I’m sure that, thanks to her energy, her acknowledged research skills and her undisputed prestige, she will boost, in her new role, the Institute’s activities and international reach”.

With and through my direction IAI completes a process of renewal, which is as much generational as it is related to the research and the national and international roles of the Institute”.

IAI President, Ambassador Ferdinando Nelli Feroci, congratulated both Ettore and Nathalie: “I would like to thank the outgoing director for his extraordinary contribution to the strengthening of IAI’s activities over the course of his nine-year mandate. At the same time, I warmly congratulate Nathalie Tocci on her new role as Director of the Institute and I wish her all the best in her work”.

The Italian Institute of International Affairs, founded in 1965 upon the initiative of Altiero Spinelli, carries out research in the field of foreign policy, economics and international security. A non-profit entity, IAI aims to promote knowledge of issues in these fields through studies, conferences and publications. To this end, it collaborates with institutes, universities and foundations in other countries and participates in various international networks.

The main areas of research are European Union institutions and policies, including its common security and defence policy (CSDP), Italian foreign policy, trends in global economics, internationalization processes in Italy, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and transatlantic relations.
